Unplugging to reground

I may not be Julia Roberts, and this might not be a Hollywood blockbuster, but as my plane touched down in Bali, Indonesia I couldn’t help but chuckle at the parallel. Am I about to enter my very own Eat Pray Love era?

My mission, to find grounding amidst the rice terraces and beaches, releasing the pent-up stress from the whirlwind year I’ve had. As I stepped off the plane, I was greeted by the welcoming warmth of the tropics and the intoxicating scent of frangipani. Soft chatter in Bahasa Indonesia echoed in the background and bright smiles from the locals served as a delightful prologue to my personal screenplay.

The rich aroma wafting from local warungs (food stalls) promises a fulfilling Eat portion of my adventure. Daily offerings, local ceremonies, burning incense and temple bells inspire a deep sense of respect for Hinduism and indigenous Balinese spirituality while reminding me of my commitment to my deen - Pray. And the Love? Well I hope to discover a deeper love and acceptance for myself throughout this journey.

This island’s vibrant life unfolded like a montage before my eyes: the colorful roadside markets, the ceaseless bustle of scooters, the ornate temples standing their ground amid the daily humdrum, and the ubiquitous offerings of flowers and incense adorning even the most ordinary of corners.

Jump cut to me channeling my inner Liz Gilbert and diving headfirst into the vibrant colors, tastes, and sounds of Balinese culture. Stay tuned for my next update! Selamat tinggal for now ❤️‍🔥
